As I mentioned, that piece was part of a larger Pinterest-inspired project, specifically this gallery wall.

I liked the idea of creating a gallery wall dedicated to the couple at the heart of the house, and I thought it'd be fun to make it a timeline.
Ours starts with the haiku George sent me with flowers in the first few weeks of dating, which was artfully turned into a frame-worthy piece by the talented Misha.
The timeline is a bit of a work-in-progress as I'm hoping to add momentos and pictures as the years go by and fill in some of the gaps with older momentos as I run across them.
The good news is that this can be a very inexpensive project if you're willing to pick up cheap frames at thrift and discount stores and turn them into something better with a little scrubbing, sanding, and spraypaint. I was pleasantly surprised at how well mine (all but the canvas, silver frame, and large black frame) turned out.
How do you display photos in your house? Have you ever restored a frame that appeared past its prime?
Love it! I'm actually working on a similar concept for up our stairwell, though slightly different execution. Basically I'm going to make one framed photo grid with 25 photos each that represent snapshots of our life together. The first one will be filled with photos up to our wedding day, the next will be our first 5 years of marriage, and it will go on like that! Since projects take me forever to complete, this format suits me :) I'm still working on gathering the perfect photos for the first frame, so by 2015 hopefully I'll have the first 5 years ready to go too!
ReplyDeleteI love it, Megan! I'd love to see the finished product!
